There are two categories of fee line items in Fire Prevention Mobile (MobileEyes) – 1) Inspection Fees and 2) Permits and Other Fees. Most departments only use the Permits and Other Fees category because most users find it easier to look in one place for all their fees.
Permits and Other Fees – Follow these steps to create a new fee in the Permits and Other Line Items pick box.
- Click the Hamburger menu, then Fire Invoicing.
- Click the Setup
- Click the New Record button for the Permit / Other Fee Line Items pick box.
- Enter the line item description. This is how the line item will appear on the invoice. Example: Assembly Occupancy Permit Fee, or Annual Inspection Fee.
- In the Fee Schedule box, enter the fee schedule as it appears in your published fees. This is for reference by the inspector or office person who is adding the fee to an invoice.
- In the Formula box, write the formula that will calculate the fee. For help with writing formulas, call the help desk or click the link Show Custom Variable Help if you would like to try to write it yourself.
- When you have finished, click Save Template Line Item.
Inspection Fees – Follow these steps to create a new inspection fee.
- Click the Hamburger menu, then Fire Invoicing.
- Click the Setup
- The first pick list is Inspection Fee Schedule Line Items. Click New Record.
- Choose the inspection type for which this fee schedule will apply.
- The Fee Schedule Description field is the wording of the line item on the invoice. Edit this field to say what you want the line item to say on the invoice. For example, if you are creating a line item for Annual Inspection on an Assembly Occupancy, the Fee Schedule Description will be something like Annual Inspection Fee – Assembly Occupancy.
- Select the Property Use types for which this line item will apply (use Ctrl-Click to select more than one). When your inspectors do an inspection of this type on an occupant of any of the Property Use types you select, Fire Prevention Mobile (MobileEyes) will present this fee schedule to the inspector.
- Example 1: You create a fee line item for an Annual inspection on an Assembly occupant. The fee your inspectors charge may depend on the max. occupant load of the assembly - $25 for <100; $50 for 101-200; $75 for >200 max. occupant load.
- Example 2: You create a fee line item for an Annual inspection done on a Business/Mercantile occupant. The fee you charge may depend on the total square footage of the occupant - $50 for <5,000 sq. ft.; $75 for 5,001-10,000 sq. ft.; $100 for >10,000 sq. ft. By selecting the occupancy type(s) to which this fee item applies, you make sure your inspectors always use the correct fee calculation.
- In the Fee Schedule box, enter the fee as it is written in your published fee schedule. This is for reference by your inspectors and office staff.
- In the Formula box, write the formula that will calculate the dollar amount owed. For help with how to write formulas, call the help desk or click the link to Show Custom Variable Help.
- When finished click Save Inspection Fee Schedule.
