Overview
There are two "states" for an inspection in Fire Prevention Mobile:
-
Uncommitted - by default, Inspections:
- Can be edited by inspectors.
- Are updated as Occupant Data is changed (Location, Structure, Owner and Contact information, permits, etc).
-
Committed Inspections are considered historical - they cannot be changed.
- Changes to Locations, Structures, Owners, permits, and contacts are not reflected in a Committed inspection.
- Committed inspections can no longer be edited by an inspector.
- Uncommitting an inspection can be done, if the user has the required permissions.
- Inspections uploaded from the tablet app are put on the Commit Inspection screen for review and approval. No emailed copies of the inspection report get sent until the inspection has been Committed.
- Also, the auto-scheduling process does not schedule the next inspection until the current inspection is committed.
Reviewing Inspections
- From the Hamburger menu, click Commit Inspections. Or from the home screen, click Commit Fire Inspections.
- The Commit Screen will not load your inspections automatically. You have filters you can set to see just the inspections you are interested in.
- If you are a smaller department, you can click Search without setting any filters and the screen will load all uncommitted inspections (waiting to be committed).
- When you click search, the first 15 uncommitted inspections will load. The screen will automatically scroll to the bottom of the list .
- There you’ll see two buttons. The buttons, “Back to Top” and “Load 15 More”.
- If there are more than 15 uncommitted inspections, you can load the next batch of 15. Or you can return to the top of the screen.
- There you’ll see two buttons. The buttons, “Back to Top” and “Load 15 More”.
- If you are a larger department that does a lot of inspections each day, you might want to review and commit inspections done by specific inspectors. In this case, in the INSPECTOR FILTER.
- Set the filters for the inspectors’ inspections you would like to view.
- You can choose more than one at a time by holding down the CRTL key and making your selection then select Search.
- Set the filters for the inspectors’ inspections you would like to view.
- Or if you’re looking for a particular uncommitted inspection, you can search by:
- Occupant Name
- Address Number
- Street Name
- To limit what you see on the Commit screen, by month.
- You can filter by month; you will also have to input the 4-digit year.
- Sometimes inspections have a problem, and they are not ready to be “committed”.
- These “problem” inspections are in chronological order.
- If you would like to only focus on inspections that are ready to be committed or inspections that have problems , you can toggle between them by selecting one of the buttons, at the bottom of the page to hide the “Not Eligible” inspections or to hide the eligible ones.
- If your department uses our Company Inspector web app or uses the self-reinspection feature, you can easily locate those “in progress” inspections.
- By selecting the In Progress Company and self-inspections button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
- This will open a new browser tab and will display all in-progress company inspections and self-reinspection.
- When you have finished reviewing the list, just close the browser tab and return to the Commit screen.
Editing the Uncommitted Inspection
- Select the Edit Inspection Tool to fix typos, spelling mistakes, or to remove deficiencies from the report. You will be taken to the Tools tab.
- To fix a typo or spelling mistake, click on the grey comments box that contains the typo or spelling mistake. An editing window will open. Make your changes and click Save.
- To remove a deficiency or to change the Pass/Fail/NA status of a question, click on the Checklist tab. You will see the checklist that the inspector sees in the field.
- Click on the group you want to edit on the left side. The questions for that group will appear on the right side of the screen.
- To switch a question from Fail to Pass or NA, click the Pass or NA circle.
- To edit the inspector comment, click on the page icon. The comment window will open for you to make your edits.
- To remove the Pass/Fail/NA status of a question, along with any inspector comments, click the circle with the red X.
(Any inspection questions left unanswered will not appear on the customer's inspection report.)
- To edit building, occupant, contact, and system information select the corresponding tab. Make your changes and Save.
- When you have finished editing the inspection, Save, and click the Back to Commits button. This will return you to the same inspection in the list on the Commit screen.
Committing Inspections
To commit inspections, either check the checkbox of the inspections you want to commit or click the Check All button.
- Click Commit Selected Inspections.
- You will be taken to a "Commit Monitor" screen that shows the progress of the inspections you have chosen to Commit.
- As each inspection is Committed, Fire Prevention Mobile sends any required emails, updates the Dashboard statistics, and scheduled the next inspection, if there were violations.
- If you get an error during this process, Click the button at the bottom of the Commit Monitor that says Show Detailed Log. Then enter your name and click Email Log to Fire Prevention Mobile.
- Since the commit process involves a lot of processing, sometimes your internet connection will time out.
- Sending the Commit logs to Fire Prevention Mobile helps us to continually improve this process.
