If your department does not have a record management system (RMS), you can Import your local fire codes directly into Fire Prevention Mobile (MobileEyes) from an Excel or Word document:
To Import local fire code information into Fire Prevention Mobile (MobileEyes), follow these steps:
Prior to starting
- Call the support team and have them set up a new fire code source for your local codes.
- After the new source has been made available, you should set up any groups (you can add more at any time).
Step 1
- From the Hamburger Menu, go to Codes and click Code Tools.
- Click on the Import Codes tab.
- Select the code set from the pick box.
- Copy your fire codes from an Excel Document or Word table. NOTE: There are instructions on this page with a sample Excel Document for you to use
- Otherwise, they will all be assigned to a single group, and you will have to move them individually.
- NOTE: you may want to only copy in one group of codes at a time.
- In Excel, ROW order IS Important - it determines your starting sort order for your codes.
- In Excel, layout your 5 columns of data (column order is NOT Important except for the LAST column):
- Fire Code (25-character max)
- Fire Code description (255-character max)
- Full Text (unlimited length)
- Key (for linking back to an RMS system) - This should be a column of blank cells if you are not connecting to an RMS system.
- Use "@" to indicate the end of row
- Paste your data in the box provided (you will automatically jump to step 2).
Step 2
- You can use the arrow buttons to shift the columns of data under the correct heading.
- When the columns are correctly aligned, click the Next - Options button.
Step 3
-
- Add To - This allows you to Import ADDITIONAL codes and build on what you already have.
- Update - This allows you to correct codes you have already Imported.
- Delete and replace - This allows you to start over - this option is NOT available if you already starting using codes in inspections.
- Select an owning group (i.e. the group the pasted codes should belong to).
- Select an Import mode:
- click the Next - Validations button.
- A report will be shown with the status of the Import. If all your rows were successfully Imported, click the Make Codes Available button. Otherwise, follow the instructions on the screen.
The fire codes are now available for the inspections.
You can now change any of the options for the fire codes.
